Happy Bullish Year!

Gong Xi! Gong Xi!

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my friends "Happy Chinese New Year". May this year will be a bullish year for all. Its time for us to moo-ve ahead and forget all those unhappy moments. However, there is still a lot more to be done especially in our current political and economy situation. An assemblymen from BN has defected to Pakatan Rakyat, and thus handing over a big Ang Pau to BN this year. There is more to come, according to PAS. BN leadership, as usual, gives assurance that it won't happen, as all the MP and assemblymen have pledged their loyalty to BN. So, lets us wait & see the great movie ahead, with director from both BN and Pakatan Rakyat and actors comprising of MP and assemblymen. Hope that the storyline will be as interesting as well.

MCA will have to work extra hard like a "bull"to win over the confidence of Chinese voters. MCA can't forever hide behind those glorious golden old days, where majority of the Chinese voters give their solid votes to MCA candidates. We must take into account that young voters play a major part in determining the victory of the candidates. All the young generation hopes to see a fair and justice system to be practised in our country. Not being a counterpart that is being controlled and being punched at the face by a dominant party all the time.

People said that a history is being created on 308 (March 2008) where the whole political landscape change. BN for the first time suffers a major loss. But lets us all worked together from now on to create another history in politic, that is to swept out Pakatan Rakyat from their seats in the five states which they controlled now. Although it seems like a daunting task for us, but believe me, it can be done if we apply the right strategies and mentality.

Chinese community is now waiting for MCA to give them reasons to celebrate this Chinese New Year even further; and if MCA can succeed in its reformation, I am sure the Chinese community will gives back a big Ang Pau (votes) to MCA in the coming election.

All comrades. Lets us now work hand in hand and reach out for the Chinese community in helping them in whatever way we can. They will eventually feel our sincerity sooner or later.

Happy OX Year once again!!

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Bill 2008

After so much fuss created around MACC Bill 2008, it's finally aprroved by Dewan Rakyat on 16-12-2008. It is first tabled on 10-12-2008 by Prime Minister for first reading on Dewan Rakyat, along with the Judicial Appointments Commission Bill as part of the government’s efforts to restore integrity and confidence in the country’s judicial system and in the war against corruption.Since then, it has been receiving mixed reactions from all the MPs.

Previously the ACA, which was under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister's Department, had evoked skepticism on its efficiently in curbing corruption. Therefore, MACC is introduced with some adjustments implemented. First of all, MACC is not under any of the ministry and now directly responsible to Parliament. It is also answerable to five independent bodies which are Anti-Corruption Advisory board, Special Committee on Corruption, Complaints Committee, Operations Review Panel and Corruption Prevention and Consultative Panel.

Its chief commissioner is given powers of a deputy public prosecutor, thus giving the commission powers to prosecute. In addition, its four commissioners can also order investigations into reports lodged with MACC.

From now on, MACC has becomes a reality. For better or for worse, we can wait and see. Let's us hope that MACC can truly carries out its duties efficiently and with integrity. Do not just change the name, but remains the same inside. Enforcement is important, but what is more important is that all our people realise the harmful effects of corruption to our society. Educate our children from now in order for us to have a brighter and harmony future. Let's us create another Lady of Justice or Justice Bao again!

Landslide at Bukit Antarabangsa

And the moral of the story is....?

Bukit Antarabangsa is making headlines again, for unwanted reasons.

Massive Landslide at Bukit Antabangsa. That is the title of The Star newspaper. It's all occurred on 6th December 2008, 3.30am. A lot of people injured and died on the spot. We can see the authorities are trying their very best in rescuing those people.

Now, the infamous tag used by Moses Lim in "Under One Roof" immediately comes to my mind. "And the moral of the story is...?". Like usual, almost no one can tell what's the real moral of the story, including the our authorities in our country. I wonder how many persons actually still remember the Highland Towers apartment building who collapsed on 11th Dec 1993, killing 48 people. The location is just about 1.5 km from the latest landslide at Bukit Antarabangsa. The situation then is so tense that it grabs the whole nation in deep shock and grief.

Nearly 15 years passed on. Same situation reoccurs again. I wonder what things our authorities have learned in the past. Each and every time we can see the government flex their muscles when only the thing has occurs. Now only they said they want to review all the highland projects and things like that. Why they don't review it for the past 15 years? Now only they want to preserve nature? The phrase "Prevention is Better than Cure" doesn't seem to struck a thing in their mind.

We are repeating the same mistakes, again and again. I'm so scare that our next generations will follow in the footsteps in future. But, let's us all pray it won't happen.

Lastly, my deepest condolences to the landslides victims and their family members. Fear not, as the whole nation is behind you in walking on one of the darkest moments in your life.
