Bukit Antarabangsa is making headlines again, for unwanted reasons.
Massive Landslide at Bukit Antabangsa. That is the title of The Star newspaper. It's all occurred on 6th December 2008, 3.30am. A lot of people injured and died on the spot. We can see the authorities are trying their very best in rescuing those people.
Now, the infamous tag used by Moses Lim in "Under One Roof" immediately comes to my mind. "And the moral of the story is...?". Like usual, almost no one can tell what's the real moral of the story, including the our authorities in our country. I wonder how many persons actually still remember the Highland Towers apartment building who collapsed on 11th Dec 1993, killing 48 people. The location is just about 1.5 km from the latest landslide at Bukit Antarabangsa. The situation then is so tense that it grabs the whole nation in deep shock and grief.
Nearly 15 years passed on. Same situation reoccurs again. I wonder what things our authorities have learned in the past. Each and every time we can see the government flex their muscles when only the thing has occurs. Now only they said they want to review all the highland projects and things like that. Why they don't review it for the past 15 years? Now only they want to preserve nature? The phrase "Prevention is Better than Cure" doesn't seem to struck a thing in their mind.
We are repeating the same mistakes, again and again. I'm so scare that our next generations will follow in the footsteps in future. But, let's us all pray it won't happen.
Lastly, my deepest condolences to the landslides victims and their family members. Fear not, as the whole nation is behind you in walking on one of the darkest moments in your life.
